DUTIES
- Visits the Company's terminal locations as necessary to determine current status and future needs of terminal managers.
- Organizes and assigns departmental workload to maximize efficiency and quality of job performance.
- Develops, directs, and monitors progress of recruiting programs for qualified drivers utilizing both domestic and international labor sources.
- Instructs, guides, supervises, motivates, and evaluates subordinates regarding the daily performance of their assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable Company policies and procedures, as well as any relevant local, state, and/or federal statutes or regulations.
- Serves as an active member of the Independent Contractors and Company advisory board committee.
- Addresses strategies to be used for recruiting new drivers and independent contractors, including but not limited to the utilization of various advertising mediums as well as specialized recruiting programs for driver training schools, to ensure a continual and reliable source of future employees.
- Monitors driver and independent contractor utilization, revenues, and equipment availability.
- Maintains constant awareness of any developing employment trends or needs, thereby keeping the company on the leading edge of the trucking industry.
- Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with other Company management, departments, and personnel.
- Interacts with other departments dealing with drivers to coordinate, prompt, and correct handling of any driver problems or concerns.
- Maintains up-to-date awareness of all local, state, and federal regulations governing the trucking industry.
- Coordinates analysis of such information to determine its impact on driver recruitment.
- Maintains constantly updated knowledge of all Department of Transportation rules and regulations that affect the Company's daily operations to ensure accuracy, consistency, as well as an efficient and constant flow of business.
- Recommends new Company policies, procedures, and standards to enhance and further support the efficient conduction of profitable operations within the rules and regulations mandated by the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.).
- Communicates al current D.O.T. and company rules and regulations to Company drivers and Independent Contractor Drivers.
- Ensures all Company drivers, Independent Contractors and Independent Contractor Drivers meet qualification requirements of D.O.T. and the company.
- Analyzes and evaluates any new laws and regulations, changes to current laws or regulations and interpretations that may directly or indirectly influence how the Company conducts business.
- Compiles and circulates the "UPDATE" monthly.
- Manages the personnel function for area of responsibility, ensuring that hiring, training, evaluating, and counseling are carried out as appropriate throughout area of responsibility.
- Implements and administers all Company personnel policies.
- Interacts with other Company directors in an open and cooperative manner.
- Communicates workplans and other information to contribute to overall Company success.
- Ensures that all activity in area of responsibility is conducted in accordance with the Company's safety program and all related procedures and practices.
- Ensures that all subordinates are trained in appropriate safety procedures.
- Explores, documents, and recommends to management new methods and/or systems which when implemented would improve performance in area of responsibility.
- Performs other duties as required by business necessity or assigned by Executive Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in a Driver Recruiting capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Must have thorough understanding of DOT driving requirements.
- Should possess excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point, outlook)
- Experience and skilled in employee relations, recruitment, on-boarding.
- Ability to build relationships with drivers based on trust and knowledge.
- Understand the complexities of driver recruitment and retention.
- Capable of providing leadership, support, and direction to recruitment staff.
- Knowledge of Human Resource policies, EEOC law and DOT regulations.
- Skilled in employment policies including selections and placement.
- Must be well organized and highly detailed with a flexible attitude to be able to manage a variety of functions and maneuver between tasks.
- Must be a strong communicator in all media forms with the ability to communicate with associates, managers, in group settings, or individually, at all levels of the company.
