What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler 2nd Shift position at PHA Michigan LLC?
PHA Michigan LLC is seeking a 2nd Shift Material Handler to join our team. This position is responsible to deliver materials to the production line to build parts and prepare material for changeover of production lines to have minimal downtime. Responsible to take away material from production lines to put away in correct locations as well as move material from transfer trucks to racks in designated locations.
MATERIAL HANDLING
- Deliver product to production line to build parts.
- Put material away from deliveries in the correct location in the rack.
- Prepare material for changeovers on production lines to ensure a quick changeover.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of racks.
- Pull wood boards off the walls of pallets once removed.
- Label boxes and scan to line once material is brought to line.
- Pull cardboard off pallets and stack them to be put in the scrap trailer.
- All areas of logistics need to be clean swept and ready for the next shift.
- Materials need to be stocked and ready for the next shift to start.
- Scan all materials correctly to the line.
- May be asked to assist in dock functions as needed.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
DOCK HANDLING
- Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, trucks, and storage areas.
- Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
- Applies understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
- Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
- Reports any problems with materials or transportation to supervisor.
- Manages piles, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas.
- Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to Supervisor.
- May be asked to assist in material handling functions as needed.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- All the above functions require varying degrees of independence, judgement, and discretion and the ability to be mobile within the work area.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous assembly, production or material handling experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to life 3550 pounds.
- Satisfactorily pass forklift driving training program or demonstrate safe handling of forklift in an onsite test
