Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Instruction
- Develop and implement a curriculum such as NCCER that is aligned with Indiana State Department of Education standards
- Provide hands-on instruction in construction, ensuring students develop technical skills and workplace readiness
- Supervise and support students in a lab environment and at construction sites, maintaining safety standards
- Deliver and track student certification records to support industry-recognized credential attainment
- Maintain and upgrade necessary licensure through continuing education
- Represent the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, YouthBuild program, and the hosting high school with professionalism
- Establish and maintain relationships with area employers in the construction industry
- Oversee student work-based learning opportunities, ensuring real-world construction experience
- Collaborate with industry partners, trade unions, and community organizations to enhance student opportunities
- Develop and maintain dual credit agreements with post-secondary institutions
- Maintain student records, including attendance, assessments, and progress reports
- Assist in developing and improving construction programs in alignment with industry standards
- Support educators and administrators in integrating technical training with academic education
- Manage program resources, including tools, materials, and construction site operations
- Ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines for workforce training programs
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, employers, and school administrators
- Support students in making informed career decisions and achieving long-term employment success
- Facilitate mentorship, leadership development, and career coaching for students
- Perform additional duties as assigned by administration
Required:
- Ability to obtain a Valid Indiana Workplace Specialist License or eligibility based on 3-5 years of construction industry experience
- Strong understanding of construction fundamentals, including:
- Basic construction principles and site selection
- Residential construction and full ability to execute on remodels and stick builds
- Engineering, material preparation, and heavy equipment operation
- Utility location, rigging, and concrete work
- Road, bridge, and infrastructure construction
- Ability to supervise and mentor students in hands-on work-based learning environments
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Experience guiding students in making viable career decisions
- Ability to develop and maintain employer partnerships
- Verifiable work experience outside of education
- Proficiency in computer applications related to instruction and student management
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development
- CDL license (or ability to obtain one)
- Experience in vocational education or technical training
- Career and Technical Education (CTE) or YouthBuild Department of Labor experience
- Knowledge of CTE/CSA, WIOA Title I & II, YouthBuild, and workforce training programs
- Familiarity with compliance tracking systems and workforce development platforms
- Industry & Vendor Partnerships: Manage relationships with vendors, ensuring alignment with Skilled US’s needs for equipment, curriculum, and workforce training
- Community Engagement: Coordinate with local workforce agencies, unions, and business partners to strengthen program offerings and funding opportunities
- Implement industry best practices for compliance tracking, reporting, and automation
- Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance training and workforce placement for underserved communities
- Work closely with leadership teams to align construction training programs with workforce demands
- Stay informed on emerging trends in construction technology, workforce development, and career training methodologies
- Lead strategic initiatives to improve accessibility, efficiency, and outcomes in adult education and vocational training

Work-Based Learning & Employer Engagement:
- Research, recruit, and secure youth-specific employment opportunities with local businesses and industry leaders
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with employers, trade unions, and community organizations to create diverse career opportunities for students
- Represent Skilled US programs at networking events, job fairs, and industry meetings
- Coordinate and organize on-site and off-site employer visits to develop career opportunities for students
- Oversee the WBL process, from initial employer outreach to final student placement and ongoing support
- Ensure compliance with all guidelines, including job qualifications, training plans, and documentation for students
- Conduct worksite visits to monitor student progress, provide feedback, and offer guidance to students and employers
- Research labor market trends to align WBL opportunities with the needs of local industries
- Report student progress, trends, and partnership outcomes to school leadership and program managers
- Assist educators in integrating WBL into their curriculum to enhance student learning
- Help teachers organize career-related activities, such as guest speakers, industry panels, job shadowing, and site visits
- Collaborate with staff to organize career readiness events such as workshops and college visits
- Negotiate and manage all WBL documentation, including training plans, job descriptions, wages, and timelines
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing work- based learning and employment for students
- Track and report on student placements, employer feedback, and worksite evaluations to ensure program success
- Stay updated on industry trends, changes in legislation, and best practices related to workforce development through ongoing professional development
- The ideal candidate for the Youth ProgramCoordinator role will possess the following qualifications:
- Passion for Youth Career Readiness: A strong commitment to supporting students in their career development and preparing them for success in the workforce
- Relationship-Building Skills: Ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with employers, educators, and students to foster collaboration and create opportunities
- Understanding of Career Pathways: A clear understanding of various career pathways and the ability to guide students toward enrollment in higher education, employment, or military enlistment based on their strengths and interests
- Organizational and Administrative Expertise: Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, coordinate events, and ensure compliance with all relevant documentation and regulations
- Work closely with school counselors to support students in identifying career pathways, setting achievable goals, and preparing for post-graduation success
- CTE (Career and Technical Education) experience is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in business, education, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working with youth is preferred
- Experience in career coaching, workforce development, or employer engagement is highly desirable
