Key Deliverables:
Instruction and Curriculum Development:
- Develop and deliver engaging ELL lesson plans tailored to the needs of adult learners, focusing on morning sessions
- Utilize Burlington English to create effective and interactive learning experiences
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and collaboration
- Conduct and interpret TABE assessments to evaluate students’ English language skills and progress
- Create Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to address the unique needs and goals of each student
- Provide one-on-one support as needed to ensure student success and retention
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with students regarding progress and program requirements
- Collaborate with colleagues to align instruction with organizational goals and student needs
- Engage with community partners to identify resources that support student learning
- Document and report student progress in compliance with organizational and state requirements
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and outcomes
Availability:
- This hybrid position requires in-person interaction with students, training partners, and community partners. Primary working hours will be on Saturday
- Knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards, Indiana Graduation Pathways, Next Level Programs of Study, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Skills
- Experience in teaching high school-aged students in a nontraditional or adult education setting
- Ability to work with diverse populations, including individuals who have faced educational barriers
- Technical knowledge of G Suite and MS Office, as well as student information systems
- Bilingual skills are an added advantage
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English as a New Language (ENL), or a related field
- Current Indiana ENL Professional Educator license preferred (Skilled US will provide funding for certification if necessary)
- At least two years of experience teaching ELL or ESL in an adult education or similar setting
- Certification in one or more of: TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults), TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language, DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults), or ESL Endorsement
- Proven experience working with Burlington English or similar instructional tools
- Familiarity with administering and interpreting TABE assessments
- Familiarity with Indiana Academic Standards and best practices in adult education
- Ability to work with diverse populations and those facing educational barriers
- Proficiency with digital tools, including G Suite and MS Office
- Bilingual skills are a plus
