Job Summary
The Construction Superintendent plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing construction projects from inception to completion. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively coordinate all site activities, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of construction processes, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety and compliance.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations on the construction site, ensuring adherence to project schedules and specifications.
- Prepares detailed and timely daily reports. Incorporates/reviews subcontractor’s daily reports for issues, coordination and claim avoidance, daily progress pictures.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, laborers, and other personnel involved in the project.
- Review schematics and blueprints to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications.
- Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Runs contractor coordination, safety/toolbox talk meetings along with documentation.
- Implement OSHA safety standards on-site, promoting a culture of safety among all team members.
- Oversees creation and completion of punch list process.
- Initiates set-up of project schedule; maintains and manages schedule, including preparation of detailed short-term schedules and ensuring all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates.
- Assists PM with any other tasks that may be needed.
Skills
- 5 years of direct supervision of projects including trades.
- 4-year technical/engineering degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics and blueprints for accurate project execution.
- Strong ability to effectively communicate with all members of the team including contractors, architects and owners. Ability to negotiate and professionally handle conflicts and confrontations.
- Demonstrated knowledge in construction principles, practices and methods, performance standards, environmental regulations, workplace safety, and union relations.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with subcontractors, clients, and team members.
- Excellent organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong leadership abilities to motivate teams and drive project success while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Knowledge of principles of construction, including forming and placing of concrete, process piping, crane operations and erection of structural steel, installation of cladding on buildings, completion of roofing, plumbing, electrical and HVAC and interior finishes.
This position is essential for ensuring that construction projects are executed efficiently while meeting all regulatory requirements and client expectations. Responsibilities may consist of other's not listed above and is dependent on the companies operation needs.
