The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of multiple languages and be able to interpret spoken or signed communication in real-time. This role is essential in various settings, including healthcare, legal, and community services, ensuring that all parties understand each other clearly.
Duties
- Provide accurate and clear interpretation of spoken or signed language during meetings, appointments, and events.
- Translate written documents as needed to support communication efforts.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while interpreting sensitive information.
- Assist in bridging cultural gaps by providing context and clarification when necessary.
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure effective communication strategies are employed.
- Stay updated on industry terminology and best practices in interpretation.
Skills
- Proficiency in multiple languages, with a focus on bilingual or multilingual capabilities.
- Strong interpreting skills, including the ability to interpret in real-time and convey messages accurately.
- Knowledge of linguistics and cultural nuances that affect communication.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus for those working with deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.
