Job Summary:
This position is on-site full time in San Diego, CA. The candidate will work independently to engage pharma partners and manage existing partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scan competition landscape and scout for out-licensing and partnership opportunities.
- Help negotiate and form partnerships with biotech and pharma companies.
- Help coordinate the business aspects of external partnerships by working with the internal team and external partners.
- Manage and support existing partnerships.
Qualifications:
The candidate must have business development experience in the biotech/pharma industry, including in-licensing, out-licensing, R&D collaborations, and/or mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Finance and banking experience is a plus. The candidate is expected to have strong interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate must be a team player and is expected to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- The candidate should have prior scientific background in biotech or related areas with a good understanding of the drug discovery and development process.
- This candidate is expected to work with project teams to fully understand the key aspects of the pipeline and technologies, map out an outreach/out-licensing strategy, and then be fully responsible for the execution of the out-licensing strategy. The candidate will also act as business liaison for established partnerships.
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of biological sciences.
- At least 2 years of work experience of business development and/or alliance management in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience of licensing and/or business transactions.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skillset.

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $160,000 - $220,000. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
