Phantom Lake YMCA Camp in Mukwonago, Wisconsin is looking to fill several camp counselor positions, working with our day and resident camp programs for the summer of 2022. These are live on-site positions, working Sunday to Saturday with 24 hours off each week, room and board provided.
Start Date: Variable based on position, but most start June 12, 2022
End Date: August 20, 2022
Location: Mukwonago, WI (30 minutes from Milwaukee; 1.5 hours from Chicago.)
PURPOSE: To further the mission of camp to serve campers through the delivery of program activities. You will work together with our seasonal and leadership teams to design and deliver a summer camp program that is safe, fun, and appropriate to all campers of various ages and abilities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Camp counselors are responsible for the overall leadership, guidance and program of camp participants. Staff must be willing to work in either a day camp or resident camp role. Staff build relationships with campers, between campers, and within the camp community. Staff must identify and meet the needs of all campers and participants, making each experience positive and unique. Safety must be a staff member’s number one priority. Staff must assist in teaching skills and program activities while maintaining standards that lead to a safe and quality progressive program. All staff members must have integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, and respect. Desire and ability to work with children, junior counselors, and staff at a summer camp with over 100 years of tradition and history
Qualifications: Must be an individual of at least 18 years old and must have previous childcare experience. Must have CPR Certification AND be willing to RECEIVE AT LEAST ONE CERTIFICATION in the areas of archery, zipline or lifeguarding. (All certifications may be acquired before or at Phantom Lake.) Staff must possess the ability to accept guidance and supervision and a desire to stand out and take initiative. Must be willing to live on site.

Phantom Lake YMCA Camp offers wonderful opportunities for kids to engage in activities that they will most likely not get anywhere else. They will get to swim in the lake, make bracelets in the Craft Shop, climb through our high ropes course, and many other unique activities. They will get to do all of this while staying in a tent with other kids their age, allowing them to make friendships and build bonds that can last a lifetime. Every camper to come to Phantom Lake will leave with the Phantom Spirit in them that they will share with the rest of the world.
