Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacy team in the preparation and dispensing of medications, ensuring the highest standards of patient care within a hospital or pharmacy setting. This position requires a strong understanding of compounding terminology, medication formulation, and aseptic techniques to provide safe, accurate and effective pharmaceutical compounding services.
Duties
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain an organized pharmacy environment, ensuring all medications are stored properly.
- Process prescription orders and verify patient information for accuracy.
- Provide medication administration support under the supervision of licensed pharmacists.
- Utilize medical terminology to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in acute care settings to meet patient needs.
- Perform inventory management, including ordering and restocking medications.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and safety protocols, including aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on medication usage, side effects, and storage requirements.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Compounding Pharmacy Technician is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration processes and medical terminology is essential.
- Familiarity with compounding lab environments is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pharmacy setting.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients and healthcare professionals regarding medication instructions.
