Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Data Science to lead the data-driven innovation effort within our multidisciplinary research teams. This individual will apply advanced analytical methods, AI/ML, and statistical modeling to accelerate the drug discovery and decision-making process in support of PIRC’s expanding research pipelines. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in computational biology, machine learning, and data-driven drug discovery and will work closely with our Immunology, Translational Science, and Biologics teams in the Boston area as well as Taipei, Taiwan to develop state-of-the-art solutions for drug discovery.

Data Science & AI/ML Innovation:
- Develop and apply advanced AI/ML models (e.g., deep neural networks, Bayesian optimization, active learning, LLMs, etc.,) to bring computational methods to the forefront of our drug discovery programs.
- Integrate and analyze -omics data (including transcriptomic and genomic data) for therapeutic target discovery and indication finding.
- Provide data-driven recommendations on target ID, validation, translational research and clinical trials to support drug discovery and development efforts.
- Contribute to and identify opportunities for our computational discovery strategy including long-term investments in technology and talents.
- Work across therapeutic areas to drive impact in research programs, including Cytokine, Immune-Checkpoints, bispecific ADC.
- Conduct hands-on analysis of internal and external datasets to generate actionable scientific insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, bioinformatics, and clinical scientists, to develop data-driven solutions supporting processes and workflows for data flows, data mapping, data security and data QC.
- Establish and manage external collaborations with academia, industry partners, and technology platforms to stay at the cutting edge of Computational method development.
- Mentor junior Data scientists and foster a collaborative, high-performance research environment.
Required:
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Biostatistics, or a related field.
- 10 years of experience in computational research, with industry experience and people management preferred.
- Proven expertise in AI/ML development and applications, including deep learning, Bayesian optimization, and active learning.
- An understanding of drug discovery and biomarker related platforms (NGS, -omics study, Flow Cytometry, etc.), and the types of data generated from such platforms, is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in managing biomarker or bioassay data in oncology studies is also desirable.
- Proficiency in R, Python, C/C , shell scripting, and command-line tools.
- Experience working in Linux, high-performance computing (HPC), and cloud computing environments.
- Strong publication track record in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and experience advancing molecules from discovery to development is required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
