Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing a safe environment for all pool patrons and swimmers in the pool and deck area.
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED in English or current PSJA ISD high school student
Qualifications:
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or ability to attain within 7 days of hire.
- Strong swimmer
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Minimum age requirement of sixteen years
Experience:
Lifeguard experience (preferred)
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable

Technical Skills, Responsibilities, and Duties |

Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Uphold and adhere to safety rules.
- Prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of persons using the swimming pool.
- Maintain discipline of swimmers by asking for assistance from the Head Lifeguard and/or Aquatics Director.
- Observe for accidents occurring in the water, on the deck, or on diving equipment.
- Enter the water to rescue persons in trouble, resuscitate swimmers who may need it, administer first aid to the injured, and call 911 for serious accident cases.
- Report definite or potential hazards and unsafe conditions to the Head Lifeguard and/or Aquatics Manager.
- Maintain an acceptable appearance at all times, with regard to both uniform and personal hygiene.
- Display professionalism, courtesy, and helpfulness to all pool patrons and fellow employees in the performance of duties.
- Keep abreast of innovative practices.
- Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures.
- Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters.
- Support the goals and objectives of the district and follow district policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Clerical work as directed
- Janitorial duties as directed
