Job Overview
Phase II Transportation is a local asset based trucking company specializing in containerized freight. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Dispatcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previous dispatch experience. Candidate will be responsible for coordinating container shipments in and out of various ports, ensuring timely delivery of goods, and maintaining effective communication with drivers and clients. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Utilize GPS and phone systems to track vehicle locations and optimize routes for timely deliveries.
- Manage dispatching operations by assigning loads to drivers based on availability and capacity as well as scheduling appointments at various ports using Emodal.
- Communicate with customers about deliveries as well as any issues effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, including shipping and receiving documentation, generate billing documents for timely billing.
- Monitor driver performance and provide support as needed to resolve issues during transit as well as after.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and other stakeholders to coordinate schedules and address any concerns.
- Using software systems such as QuickBooks to input rates and update customer details regularly.
- Deliver clear and thorough instructions to drivers on a daily basis to cover all loads effectively.
- Handle breakdowns of equipment in emergency situations.
- Occasional on call and weekend work may be required.
Qualifications
- 1 year container experience preferred.
- 1 year previous experience as a trucking dispatcher Required
- Proficient in using GPS technology, phone systems, computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively while under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong Phone skills and etiquette.
- Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma/GED
- Previous experience with Seattle/Tacoma port systems and scheduling using E-Modal preferred.
- Familiarity with container/trailer types
- Excellent typing and data entry skills
- Understanding of best practices, safety and procedures for the transportation industry and emergency response situations
