The Staff Accountant will support the financial operations of the organization by ensuring accurate recordkeeping, compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and timely financial reporting. This role involves general ledger management, grant tracking, reconciliation, and assisting with audits. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate journal entries and reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including monthly and quarterly reports.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial projections.
- Monitor and track restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring compliance with grant and donor restrictions.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and donor contributions.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements, investigating discrepancies as needed.
- Assist with audits, ensuring compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting regulations.
- Support payroll processing and benefits administration in coordination with HR.
- Maintain organized financial records for internal and external reporting.
- Assist in developing financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards.
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
