What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefits Coordinator position at Phaxis?
Primary Responsibilities :
- Routinely checks benefits and leave email accounts; answers general questions to forwards emails to appropriate manager within 24-48 hours.
- Submits required documentation to appropriate programs (PEBA, SCRS, etc…) for new hire enrollment and qualifying events to include supporting documents and following up accordingly; name changes, etc.
- Approves elections, adds retirement elections to Google Drive to be uploaded each pay period
- Prepares and mails out all COBRA notifications (initial, changes, terminations) and monthly letters to employees whose children are being terminated from insurance due to age
- Initiates personnel action entries to update pay codes
- Meets specified deadlines for new employee enrollments, changes, open enrollments and terminations.
- Logs all checks received by benefits onto the benefits check log before sending to Accounts Payable
- Retrieves and distributes all mail
- Assists with FMLA initial process by determining eligibility; generating reports to ensure minimum requirements are met; sending documentation.
- Electronically file documents in the appropriate Benefits or Leave files; creates new files
- Receives, logs and distributes faxes to appropriate manager and files to DocuWare.
