What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Phaxis?
Currently partnered with a well-established Food Manufacturer known for being a leader national provider of high-quality, nutritious food products looking for a Controller with manufacturing experience to join the team.
Location: Syosset
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the company’s finance, accounting, treasury, and risk management functions.
- Implement, enforce, and update accounting policies, methods, controls, and procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end financial reporting.
- Extract, analyze, interpret, and report financial data to assess financial and operational performance, including budget variances and key business metrics.
- Mentor, train, and develop company staff to enhance team capabilities.
- Prepare and review month-end account reconciliations, budgets, projections, and financial forecasts.
- Lead monthly operations meetings and contribute to planning and production discussions as needed.
- Handle business filings, including corporate tax payments, license renewals, state registrations, and property and sales tax returns.
- Identify and drive sustainable improvements through proactive recommendations and implementation.
- Administer work rules, manage disciplinary actions, evaluate employee performance, and approve status changes and salary adjustments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related
- 6-7 years of Accounting experience
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience is desired
- Previous experience in a manufacturing setting is a must
- Must possess a proficient understanding of current US GAAP requirements
