What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Safety and Quality Control Supervisor position at Phaxis?
Responsible for ensuring that products made in the facility are produced in accordance with the HACCP plan and comply with both FDA and USDA regulatory standards, as well as customers' requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
v Assist the Quality Manager in driving a food safety culture and continuous improvement strategies.
v Ensure the effective implementation of all prerequisite programs, including SSOP, GMPs, preventive maintenance, product identification, traceability, and recall, as well as education and training.
v Maintain the facility's supplier approval program for raw materials, chemicals, and finished product packaging.
v Assist the Quality Manager in driving a food safety culture and continuous improvement strategies.
v Hold your direct reports accountable to ensure they deliver on their responsibilities and provide support as required.
v Ensure that your downline reports carry out tasks correctly and provide guidance as necessary.
v Provide food safety and quality training for production employees.
v Collaborate with the Quality Manager and other department managers to ensure that all areas of the SQF System are implemented correctly.
v Conduct root cause analyses of customer complaints related to food safety and quality issues.
v Participate in all regulatory, third-party, and customer audits and inspections, as well as corrective action responses.
v Take responsibility for leading change and improving ways of working in the facility.
v Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
v A bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, microbiology, or a related field is typically required.
v At least 2-3 years of work experience as a quality assurance supervisor in a food manufacturing facility.
v Certification in one or more of the following is preferred but not required : HACCP, SQF, PCQI.
v Experience in a leadership or supervisory role is also desirable.
