Hybrid Position
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) / Developer to join our dynamic team. This hybrid role focuses primarily on database administration while also involving database development responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server database management, performance tuning, security, and backup / recovery, while also being capable of writing and optimizing SQL queries to support business applications. You will play a critical role in ensuring the scalability, performance, and reliability of our database systems, with a focus on database optimization, data integrity, and high availability.
Key Responsibilities :
Database Administration & Management :
- Manage and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Implement and enforce best practices for database design, security, backup / recovery, and high availability.
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution of issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues, focusing on performance optimization, query tuning, and resource management.
Performance Tuning & Optimization :
Perform proactive database performance tuning by analyzing execution plans, indexing strategies, and optimizing slow-running queries.Identify bottlenecks and resolve issues related to CPU, memory, and disk I / O to ensure high-performance database operations.Monitor and adjust database configurations to maximize efficiency and maintain optimal query performance.Backup, Recovery & Security :
Design and implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring minimal data loss and downtime.Manage database security, including user permissions, encryption, and adherence to security protocols to protect sensitive data.Implement and maintain high-availability solutions, including clustering, replication, and Always On availability groups.Database Design & Development :
Collaborate with development teams to design and develop relational database structures, including tables, views, and stored procedures.Write complex SQL queries, functions, and triggers to support business processes and applications.Ensure database design follows best practices for normalization, indexing, and performance.Data Migration & Integration :
Assist in the design and execution of data migration strategies for seamless data integration and transformation.Collaborate with ETL developers to optimize data processing and integration workflows, ensuring data integrity across systems.Collaboration & Support :
Work closely with application developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand and meet database requirements.Provide troubleshooting and support for issues related to database performance, development, and operations in various environments (development, testing, production).Documentation & Reporting :
Document database structures, performance tuning techniques, backup / recovery plans, and troubleshooting procedures.Provide regular reports on database health, performance, and optimization efforts to stakeholders and management.Requirements :
Education & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA / Developer, with a strong focus on database administration and performance optimization.Technical Skills :
Strong proficiency in SQL Server (2012 or later), with extensive experience in database administration, T-SQL development, and performance tuning.Deep understanding of database normalization, indexing, query optimization, and performance analysis.Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and other related database tools.Familiarity with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is a plus.Backup & Recovery Expertise :
Experience with implementing and managing database backup and disaster recovery solutions.Knowledge of high-availability options such as Always On Availability Groups, replication, and clustering.Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting :
Strong problem-solving skills focused on performance issues, query optimization, and execution plan analysis.Ability to resolve database bottlenecks and ensure high availability through monitoring and tuning.Additional Skills :
