Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Machinist Lathe to join our team. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in operating a variety of lathe machines, ensuring the production of quality parts while meeting precision and efficiency standards. This role involves working with a variety of machines, both CNC and manual, and requires strong attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Pass the certification process and demonstrate the ability to produce quality parts on all machines.
Perform lathe operations on parts with tolerances of .002” or less.
Set appropriate feeds and speeds for equipment to maximize efficiency and tool life.
Operate precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and calipers, to ensure correct dimensional and material determinations.
Perform deburring of machined parts.
Change tooling on machines as required.
Operate surface grinders for simple tasks like machining dowel pins to length and other related functions.
Maintain a clean and organized work area with good housekeeping practices.
Utilize a PC to access job-related databases and complete required computer tasks.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and proper use of PPE.
Continuously develop skills, including gaining knowledge of GD&T, gauging and measuring techniques, and further machine operations as needed.
Essential Requirements:
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong math skills and knowledge of measurement and gauging techniques.
Ability to operate and maintain machines in this classification to print.
Must practice safe work habits and follow all safety procedures.
Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Prerequisites:
Completion of Qualification Test with a passing grade of 80%.
One or more of the following:
2 years of CNC Lathe experience outside of PHD
Technical Degree in Machining or equivalent
Trade or Vocational School Graduate
Ability to learn and operate the Surface Grinder as tasks arise.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machine and part issues.
