Reports to: Executive Director- Middle and K-8 Schools
GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for directing overall site and gifted program operations, services and staff; providing information and serving as a resource to others; enforcing established policies and regulatory requirements; coordinating gifted activities and addressing issues, situations and/or problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students. Serves as a member of the leadership team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Identifies and serves gifted and talented students with appropriate learning experiences that develop potential and leads to advanced academic achievement.
- Works directly in collaboration with administrators and teachers to provide supplemental support for increasing advanced student achievement for gifted students through staff development, instructional planning, and classroom support for teachers.
- Administers tests to students determining credits earned, class placement and/or program eligibility.
- Delegates responsibility for a variety of administrative functions to other personnel in order to manage the workload more efficiently.
- Develops budgets and financial forecasts providing financial guidance and recommendations to administrative personnel, Superintendent and/or governing Board.
- Evaluates assigned personnel ensuring achievement of standards and maximized performance.
- Facilitates communication between personnel, students and/or parents evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
- Facilitates meetings coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district and/or state objectives.
- Implements policies, procedures and/or processes providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements.
- Manages site and program administrative functions maintaining safe and efficient site and program operations within district guidelines.
- Prepares a wide variety of materials documenting activities, providing reference, and/or conveying information.
- Represents the Gifted Education Program within community forums maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and/or assisting with issues related to the Phelps Center environment.
- Researches alternate funding sources maintaining operations of the Phelps Center and other program components.
- Responds to a variety of written and verbal inquiries from a variety of internal and external stakeholders resolving problems, providing information, and/or referring to appropriate personnel.
- Serves as the instructional leader providing support and guidance as requested.
- Supervises, evaluates, and/or supports the Scholars Program at Central High School as assigned.
- Supervises instructional personnel monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of school's curriculum.
- Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in job-related area from an accredited college or university, required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
- Possession of Gifted Education Certification, required.
- Possession of Principal Certification, required.
- Must pass a Criminal Bacakground Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
- The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
- Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
