Civil Engineer – Land Development

(PEI) is a progressive land development and public infrastructure civil engineering and land surveying design firm. We are located in Olathe, KS (Kansas City area) which is one of the regions fastest growing areas.
We are seeking a civil engineer with interest and experience in civil engineering land development and have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. Position involves designing roadways, site/grading/utility plans, sanitary sewer, storm sewers, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, waterlines, land disturbance and other related civil designs for subdivisions and multi-family residential projects. You will work closely with a team of talented professionals under the supervision of the team project manager / principal engineer. Position also requires extensive communication with team members and outside authorities (city, utility, client representatives). The successful applicant will be a self-starter, motivated to meet deadlines and budgets and possess the ability to clearly communicate his/her design intentions to other team members. Must have strong interpersonal, technical, written and general computer skills, and ability to work well with others in a team environment. In addition to a strong technical skill set, the position requires proficiency with Microsoft office applications and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Specific job tasks include:
- Preparing design computations and calculations.
- Preparing construction plans and specifications.
- Coordinating with team members to complete projects.
- Coordinating with utility companies, permitting agencies, clients and team members.
- Preparing and reviewing storm drainage designs and reports.
- Reviewing construction plans for technical and grammatical accuracy
- Preparing accurate summaries of quantities and earthwork calculations
- Estimating construction costs
- Performing field investigations / observations
- Construction administration services including local site visits to projects under construction.
- Completing related duties as assigned
Requirements
Candidates should possess the following:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Intern Engineer Certificate.
- 0 to 5 years of civil engineering design experience.
- Working proficiency of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
