General Summary
- The Director directs and coordinates all operations of the post-acute unit. The Director acts as a liaison between the nursing unit and other departments, physicians, administration, hospital patients, guests and the community. The Director is responsible for all personnel assigned to the unit, capital and operational budgets, general policies and compliance with accrediting agencies.
- Assures that performance appraisals are completed within time frames.
- Coaches to stress staff development.
- Continually assesses and improves department's performance and maintains appropriate quality control programs.
- Coordinates new employee orientation and ensures competency through skill validation.
- Counsels staff as appropriate in a timely manner and submits documentation.
- Develops realistic capital and operational budgets.
- Ensures that areas of supervision maintain a clean, safe environment.
- Ensures the department meets or exceeds all state, federal, Joint Commission, and specialty licensing/accreditation regulations and standards.
- Implements strategies necessary to achieve department goals and observe outcomes.
- Initiates cost reduction strategies.
- Interprets hospital policy and regulations to staff, patients, visitors and physicians.
- Interviews and selects qualified applicants.
- Manages department within budgeted expenses.
- Prepares timely monthly reports and cost variance reports.
- Works with acute resources to promote admission to the post-acute areas in an efficient manner.
- Bachelor’s or master degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field required.
- Minimum three years of clinical experience. Two or more years of management or supervisory experience preferred.
- RN License in Missouri or Compact State
- BLS through American Heart Association
- Considerable mental concentration required. Lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities and nearly constant walking required. Standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
- Frequent exposure to infectious disease and hostile persons at times. Frequent exposure to communicable disease via blood and other body fluids. Minimal physical discomfort.
