What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift - Utility position at Phelps Uniform Specialists?
Production Utility
The Production Utility is responsible for learning the ins and outs of all production jobs to assist where needed. This role also includes filling in for absences across any and all positions as required. Soil room duties include sorting soiled products from route trucks and depot semis on a daily basis. These items are then weighed and stored in designated areas. Additional responsibilities include operating the wash floor and running the bundle tie-out machine.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Unload soiled product from route delivery trucks and semi daily
- Sort all products by designed type or color
- Weigh soiled product and store in designated area
- Load product into washers or dry/cleaning machines
- Operate driers
- Remove items from washers or dry/cleaning machines
- Make sure the garment bundle gets tied together.
- Audit the count in each bundle.
- Bag bundles when necessary.
- Utilize the route software for sorting and storage.
- Make a final inspection of garments to ensure customer receives high quality products.
- Utilize productivity tracking system
- Other production duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to stand for a 10-12 hour shift

- Monday-Thursday (1pm-11:30pm) *end times may vary*
- Must be physically able to lift 30lbs appropriately
- Must be capable of working at an efficient pace to meet production expectations
- Willingness to be reliable to your team
WORKING CONDITIONS
There will be long periods of standing, bending, and using your hands. Working conditions include hot and cold weather.
