ROUTE SPECIALIST
The main duty of our Route Specialist is to ensure continuity of service excellence to our customers through route service excellence, supporting designated route team and their customers with excellence, resolving customer concerns, ensuring high quality service is delivered, identifying areas for growth and assisting with service agreements.
This position is a five-day work week.
Essential Functions
- Support designated route team with any tasks that may be required
- Run open routes as assigned and ensure continuity of excellent service for our customers for scheduled time off, staffing shortages, or call ins
- Train new employees on route and Phelps processes
- Facilitate service agreements with customers
- Assist with service tickets and customer concerns and help with resolving in a timely manner
- Develop strong relationships with key contacts
- Ensure customers have appropriate inventories
- Assist in the check in process for route team
- Adapt to the needs of the business day by day
- Establish and maintain outstanding customer service
- Identify opportunities for add on and new items for customers and partner with route team on opportunities
- Additional duties as assigned

- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, and be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, lift, push and walk
- Must be able to drive a truck/step van with ease and be able to sit for extended periods of time while driving the delivery truck
- Must have the physical ability to move rolling carts of varying weights - up to and exceeding approximately 250lbs.
- Ability to work during all seasons with exposure to outside elements
Experience/Knowledge
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of service and route-based industry experience
Work Requirements
- Must be able to pass pre-employment requirements (drug/alcohol test, fit-for-duty test, DOT physical)
- Must have and maintain a safe driving record
- Ability to work during all seasons with exposure to outside elements
Work Environment
