EDUCATION SCREENING TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Education Screening Technician
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOAL: The job of the Education Screening Technician is established for the purpose(s) of assisting in the assessment process of students referred for interventions or for further evaluation to assist with determining eligibility for special education, observing students in the classroom; compiling and distributing a wide variety of material and reports; and administering academic tests under the guidance of the District’s Psychometrist.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate’s Degree in the job-related field preferred or comparable training and/or experience
2. Three years related work experience preferred
REPORTS TO: Special Services Director
SALARY: To be determined commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Written and verbal communication - Organizational skills and the ability to adhere to strict confidentiality and high ethical standards.
- Administers, scores, and prepares reports of assessments/rating scales of referred students for the purpose of assessing achievement (oral and written) and/or academic subjects that will assist the MTSS Teams, School Psychometrist and other certified professionals in providing appropriate services or accommodations.
- Maintains files and records (confidential and non-confidential), compiling pertinent information in assigned areas for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of materials and complying with all federal/state district regulations.
- Communicates verbally and in written form (e.g. memos, reports, letters, etc.) for the purpose of conveying assessment results to teachers, parents, health officials and other appropriate personnel under the direction of the District’s Psychometrist.
- Observe students in classrooms and testing environments for the purpose of reporting observed behaviors to the District’s Psychometrist.
- Prepares reports of assessment results for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations, and/or conveying information in accordance with established guidelines on a weekly basis.
- Schedules student assessments for assigned schools and programs and ensures appropriate testing environment for the purpose of evaluating students in accordance with valid assessment protocol and state requirements.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the job assignment.
- Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the job assignment are met.
- Strong record keeping and clerical skills as well as knowledge of student assessments.
