PRAXIS TUTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: PRAXIS Tutor
SUPERVISES: NA
JOB GOAL:

Expresses commitment to support the school-based and/or district-level area of assignment, and development of new teachers and/or veteran teachers and exemplify enthusiasm for success.
Demonstrates strong facilitation skills and effectiveness in training individuals and groups that are school-based and/or district-level.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current Phenix City Schools employee
2. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in education
3. Strong understanding of the Praxis exam content and structure.
4. Previous tutoring or teaching experience, especially in test preparation.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to motivate and inspire teacher candidates.
7. Familiarity with various teaching tools and resources.
8. Strong content background in ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.
REPORTS TO: Human Resources Department
SALARY: To be determined commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
At least three years of previous successful classroom teaching
Recent experience working effectively with students and/or faculty and staff members in a supportive and impactful role yielding beneficial results.
Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving and documentation skills
Experience providing instructional support /or professional development for teachers
Essential Functions
Assess candidates' strengths and weaknesses to tailor tutoring sessions effectively.
Develop personalized lesson plans that align with the Praxis exam content and format.
Provide instruction in specific areas to include but not limited to, mathematics, reading, writing and areas of pedagogy.
Offer strategies for test-taking and time management.
Monitor candidate progress and adjust instructional methods as needed.
Facilitate a supportive and motivating learning environment.
Communicate regularly with candidates regarding progress and areas for improvement.
Stay updated on Praxis exam changes and educational best practices.
Purpose Statement:
We are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable Praxis Tutors to provide individualized instruction and support to teacher candidates and/or teachers preparing for the Praxis exams. Tutors will help candidates enhance their understanding of content areas, improve test-taking strategies, and boost their confidence.
