Employees in the class have primary responsibility for ensuring optimal crossing guard coverage throughout their district, particularly at critical intersections, and providing safe routes for K-5 students within the district who walk, cycle, and get on/off transit and walk to schools. The work of the class involves directing the activities of a large staff of crossing guards and clerical support staff. Contact with the general public and communicating effectively with subordinates, other City agencies and City officials are significant aspects of the work. The employee reports to an administrative superior.
