An employee in this class reviews requests for mammograms and operates radiological equipment to produce diagnostic images of breast tissue. Work includes screening patients and positioning patient’s breast for proper exposure. Contact with patients, physicians and outside institutions regarding requests for mammography and/or transfer of mammogram films is significant to the work. Employees are responsible for performing all required quality control tests to ensure compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and quality control standards of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Work involves moderate physical effort and potential hazards and is performed under the general supervision of a technical superior.
