ABOUT THE POSITIONThis is supervisory work in the cleaning and care of recreation department facilities and surrounding grounds and includes maintaining facility cleanliness, performing grounds maintenance, minor repair work and assisting skilled trades workers in the performance of minor work orders. This class is distinguished from lower level classes in that employees work at a major recreation facility and/or have responsibility for lower level caretakers, or serve as the lead worker in a crew performing grounds maintenance work at various recreation parks and squares. Employees regularly use mechanized tools and operate power equipment and may drive and operate single chassis automotive equipment. Work includes minor repair and maintenance of equipment such as mowers, leaf blowers and mulchers. Employees in this class may perform shift work.Work is performed under the close supervision of a higher level supervisor.Assignments include the cleaning and care of an assigned recreation center and surrounding grounds and acting as a supervisor of lower level caretakers who may be assigned to assist at a center and are carried out in accordance with detailed work instructions. Work involves some disagreeable aspects and requires moderate physical effort.
