What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rehearsal Director position at Philadelphia Ballet?
Summary/Objective:
The Rehearsal Director fulfills the duties of all artistic operations, manages in-studio company rehearsals and performances, and teaches Company Classes. The role shall work closely with the Artistic Staff, PB General Manager/Director Artistic Operations, PB Company Manager, PB Production Director, SPB Director, SPB Artistic Coordinator. This position reports to the Artistic Director for all responsibilities/duties.
Essential Functions:
- Rehearse and stage ballets in current company repertoire.
- Teach daily Company class as scheduled.
- Assist repetiteurs and choreographers in creation/staging of new works.
- Work with guest repetiteur to determine daily rehearsal needs including number of hours required and dancers to be called.
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director and stagers/choreographers to create casting for new and existing works.
- Participate in the creation of the daily rehearsal schedule.
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director, General Manager and Production Manager on season planning.
- Assist in reviewing audition submissions.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Uphold the studio code of conduct and ensure PB guests and dancers also uphold the studio code of conduct.
- Work with School Director, SPB Artistic Coordinator, and CEPP Creative Director on planning for future seasons.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience as a dancer in a professional ballet company setting.
- Experience in teaching ballet class at a professional level.
- Experience in assisting stagers and choreographers and notating works.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Knowledge of AGMA CBA
