What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Coaching position at Philadelphia City Football Club?
1. Leadership and Program Development
- Embody and promote the core values and aspirations of the organization.
- Define and implement a soccer development philosophy tailored to U7–U12 players with collaboration between the Technical Director/Executive Directors.
- Develop age-appropriate programming that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and a love for the game with the Technical Director/Executive Directors.
- Be a visible and positive presence at team training sessions, home games, and tournaments, with the aim of attending one training or game per team weekly (seasonal variation may apply).
2. Coaching Supervision and Development
- Define and document a consistent coaching philosophy and expectations for U7–U12 coaches with Technical Director/Executive Directors
- Recruit, interview, and manage quality coaches in collaboration with the Technical Director and Executive Directors.
- Assign coaches to teams, ensuring balanced workloads and equitable quality programming.
- Coordinate practice/game coverage for absent coaches and step in as needed.
- Provide comprehensive orientation and ongoing mentoring for coaches through:
- Pre-season, monthly, and end-of-season meetings.
- Weekly informal observations and feedback.
- Written evaluations and growth plans twice per season.
- Plan and lead professional development clinics or workshops before each season and mid-season (1–2 sessions, 1–2 hours each) with Technical Director/Executive Directors
3. Player and Team Development
- Define technical milestones for U7–U12players, focusing on physical, cognitive, and affective growth with the Technical Directors/Executive Directors.
- Oversee player evaluations, team formations, and placements with input from coaches.
- Plan and schedule age-appropriate clinics, including advanced skills sessions and goalkeeping training (1–2 per season).
- Develop a standardized warm-up and activation routine for U7–U12 players.
4. Communication and Outreach (for u7-u12 players)
- Act as the primary point of contact for families and potential players, providing timely responses to inquiries.
- Draft and distribute seasonal communications to families, ensuring clarity on program goals and updates.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and other stakeholders to promote programs through community events and recruitment initiatives (e.g., clinics, festivals, playdates).
5. Tryouts and Programming Coordination
- Design and organize U7–U12 team tryouts and create evaluation rubrics for families and coaches.
- Assist in creating and implementing seasonal programming, including training schedules and tournament participation plans.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Technical Director, and administrative staff to finalize schedules and plans 2–3 months before each season.
6. Reporting and Administration
- Provide bi-weekly updates to the Executive Directors and Technical Directors and monthly reports to the Board, highlighting program status, coaching performance, and player development progress.
- Track and report coaching hours, absences, and responsibilities for payroll purposes.
7. Other Duties
- Collaborate with the Board and leadership team to align programming with the organization's strategic goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the U7–U12 program.

Pay: $20,000.00 - $30,000.00 per year
