We are currently seeking to fill our Assistant/Associate Professor position at the Philadelphia campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual.

FULL-TIME TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION IN
MS in MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING PROGRAM
IN PHILADELPHIA, PA

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL TRAINING

Position Description


The MS in Mental Health Counseling program within the Department of Counseling in the School of Professional and Applied Psychology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), which is seeking CACREP accreditation, is seeking a Pennsylvania-licensed or license-eligible full-time (12 month) tenure track faculty position, entering at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This position will oversee the clinical field placements of our MS in Counseling students. This position is already funded.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Teaching 5 (five) courses in the MS in Mental Health Counseling program.
  • Overseeing the field placements of students in the master's program.
  • Maintaining and developing practicum and internship sites, including conducting site visits.
  • Participating in recruitment and activities and admissions interviews.
  • Mentoring and advising students in scholarly activities, and providing clinical supervision through field experience courses.
  • Scholarly activity in areas of specialty.
  • Participation in program and university committee work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) from a CACREP accredited counselor education program.
  • Desire to teach courses in a program that values integrated care/interprofessional education and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • A planned program of scholarly activity.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience and excellence in teaching and mentoring students being trained in a practitioner-scholar model.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaborative skills - essential.
  • Strong commitment to mentoring students - essential.
  • Specialized expertise in working with various populations, research methods, interprofessional education/integrated healthcare, and/or rehabilitation counseling.
  • Preferred: teaching experience at the graduate level.
  • Potential to secure grant funding (preferred).
  • Demonstrated successful teaching and mentoring experience in a counselor education program.
  • Ability to assist program leadership to maintain CACREP accreditation standards and pursue alternate teaching modalities (online/hybrid).
  • Experience in clinical supervision of students (preferred).

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
