The District Attorney’s Office is participating in an academic research project to investigate the impacts of recent prosecutor-led reforms to juvenile diversion policies. After redesigning all of its juvenile unit data, technology, and oversight mechanisms in an effort to align its policies and practices with evidence-informed performance management procedures, the office aims to digitize approximately 2,000 juvenile diversion records for inclusion in an analysis of pre- and post-reform time periods. To achieve this mission, the office is seeking analytical, detail-oriented, and highly driven undergraduate students to implement and oversee this digitization effort. Candidates must be committed to the rigorous pursuit of human-centered and data-driven policy solutions and exhibit comfort in challenging and rapidly evolving work environments.

This Intern is responsible for the entry of past juvenile arrests and court dispositions into the Juvenile Unit’s data and performance management platform and taking part in data quality audits. Beyond the production of high-quality data for analysis, the Juvenile Diversion Data and Performance Management Intern is uniquely positioned to spot trends in the “front end” of Philadelphia’s juvenile justice system.
Duties & Responsibilities
All exempt employees of the District Attorney’s Office are at-will employees and serve at the pleasure of the District Attorney. The at-will relationship shall not be modified for any employee and no agreement, oral or written, shall be entered into that changes the at-will relationship.

- Perform data entry of past juvenile arrest records for inclusion in juvenile database and dashboards and to allow for comparison of trends in the juvenile justice system over time.
- Perform data entry of past juvenile court disposition records for inclusion in juvenile database and dashboards and to allow for comparison of trends in the juvenile justice system over time.
- Conduct regular data audits to ensure quality of intake and disposition records.
- Assist with other data, research, and performance management projects as requested by supervisors.
- Current undergraduate student who will be entering their junior or senior year in Fall 2025
- Familiarity with the criminal justice system processes.
- Critical thinking skills and a willingness to adapt.
- Candidates must be organized, flexible, and capable of working under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to learn new technology platforms quickly.
- Detail-oriented; understands and appreciates importance of careful and accurate data entry
- Proven written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills with diverse sets of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently, including excellent time management.
- Experience working in a government or non-profit setting preferred.
