Community Engagement Specialist
The Community Engagement Specialist (CES) is responsible for supporting the outreach process to communities in PGW’s service territory. The CES will spread awareness of PGW, its programs, and initiatives to increase engagement and to meet the goals of the Corporate Communications and External Affairs Department. The CES is responsible for conducting data analysis, developing reports, maintaining procedural rules and protocols for database maintenance and usage, and utilizing the best practices for the management of department databases and data. The CES will maintain contact with internal stakeholders, particularly in Operations, to ensure the Department is keeping external stakeholders informed of PGW's initiatives. The CES partners with internal departments to plan and implement targeted outreach for consumers to increase awareness of specialized assistance programs. The CES will attend community meetings, workshops, and outreach events to communicate PGW’s customer programs and corporate objectives, as assigned by the department. The Community Engagement Specialist will report to the Manager of Community Affairs & Constituent Services.
Responsibilities
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
Attend community meetings, workshops, and outreach events to communicate PGW’s customer programs and corporate objectives, as assigned.
Provide analysis for measuring impact and quality of outreach.
Support strategies to enhance the visibility of PGW in the community.
Serve as a liaison for external legislative stakeholder matters providing resolution related to main replacement projects and service inquiries. CES may be cross trained to provide support on billing inquiries.
Meet regularly with internal stakeholders to have the latest and best information to share with constituencies.
Use demographic information to conduct relationship mapping and develop demographic/geographic trends for strengthening the department’s networks with key stakeholders.
Collect, track, and escalate customer issues and commendations delivered to PGW external affairs office, as assigned.
Database Management/Technology Coordination
Maintain the overall integrity and quality of the department’s community outreach databases to include the department’s Community Outreach Tool, a database that stores all NEC's, NAC's and other key stakeholders, and a database for construction related inquiries. This will involve regular file maintenance, data improvement, prevention of duplicate records, and enforcement of database business processes and operational rules.
Optimize the use of databases within the department by staying current on upcoming enhancements to functionality and guiding staff in the appropriate use of the existing functionality.
Develop reports and analyze data within the databases to note trends, opportunities, and gaps and address, as needed.
Obtain information through Information Services on recommended hardware/software upgrades or new products available that can improve user performance or meet new information needs of the organization.
Manage and schedule construction project related communications.
Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3 to 5 years of directly relevant experience and practical skill sets in community engagement.
Must have computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Must have database management skills.
Must have project and resource management skills with ability to handle multiple projects.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build long-term constructive and cooperative relationships with co-workers, vendors, management, and outside agencies/stakeholders.
