What are the responsibilities and job description for the Store Manager position at Philadelphia Runner?

To lead daily activities necessary to operate the store and support all floor staff and other core in-store staff. Store Managers are responsible for the day-to-day and long-term success of the staff and store and the implementation of store goals and procedures. Store Manager is a full-time position overseeing store opening and closing as well as most in-store operations. The Store Manager of Philadelphia Runner Center City is responsible for implementing and managing the sales team's training, development, and coaching and managing goals and performance expectations for individuals and the store. 


Guest Experience Goals:

  • Maintain the everyday expectations of the sales and receiving/inventory staff.
  • Direct and lead the floor team. Store Managers should always act true to core PR values and contribute to creating a positive culture and high-energy environment on the sales floor.
  • Be a go-to resource on the floor for all Philadelphia Runner sales and inventory staff in Center City. Store Managers should have an up-to-date and increased knowledge of product details and technology and constantly work with floor staff to expand their knowledge and confidence.
  • Utilize PR training and educational resources to provide the best possible guest-focused in-store experience and consistently drive sales with a focus on core KPIs and the Guest Experience Model.
  • Work with staff to develop sales and leadership abilities, resulting in an improved guest experience and identifying potential future leadership team members.
  • Ensure that Fit Specialists meet daily expectations and work appropriately with guests as they arrive.
  • Oversee the continued education of staff to ensure positive guest experience outcomes.


Store Management Expectations:

  • Arrive promptly and be fully prepared at the start of their scheduled shift. For opening shifts, staff are expected to arrive ten minutes before the beginning of the day, and the Store Manager should be well-prepared and ready to coordinate the day’s procedures.
  • They will be responsible for their scheduled shifts and assist the COO in ensuring the sales floor is well-staffed daily. This includes coordinating staff schedule swaps and coverages and managing the store in low-staff emergencies.
  • Consistently lead by example, provide real-time feedback for direct reports, and be comfortable with difficult but necessary conversations (performance, disciplinary, etc).
  • Delegate necessary tasks to Assistant Managers and Keyholder staff to maintain focus on critical day-to-day operations (customer experience, loss prevention, E-Commerce transactions, etc.).
  • Use store performance metrics and KPIs to achieve monthly and annual sales goals.
  • Communicate consistently with store staff through monthly check-ins and, as necessary, encourage continued focus on store goals and culture.
  • Communicate weekly and monthly with the COO on all in-store goals and expectations, as well as progress toward goals and growth.
  • Develop and maintain a high sense of floor awareness amongst staff regarding loss prevention.


Staff Management Expectations

  • Responsible for overseeing the daily operations and workflow the staff undertake each day.
  • Ensure staff is current on Philadelphia Runner-related communications, events, policy changes, and scheduling updates.
  • Work hands-on with Fit Specialists on adjustments to their fit process and help them find ways to reach their personal Philadelphia Runner goals.
  • Conduct Staff Reviews with Fit Specialists, Key Holders, and Assistant Managers and share pertinent information with COO as necessary.
  • Observe and report on potential changes to scheduling, staffing, and other necessary personnel matters to the COO.
  • Work with the inventory management team to ensure the sales floor is well stocked and that Fit Specialists have tasks when necessary.
  • Address any interpersonal staff issues and communicate concerns and any resulting action to the COO.
  • Communicate with store staff as a liaison between the executive team and floor team for the distribution of information.


Inventory and Operations Expectations:

  • When not working with guests, store managers should check the store's appearance to make sure it meets the expectations of a premium shopping experience, delegate tasks to available staff, or complete tasks themselves if all fit specialists are working with guests.
  • The Store Manager should have a thorough knowledge of the inventory management system and be able to work closely with the daily inventory specialist or step into the role when necessary and possible.
  • Possess an encompassing knowledge of store operations software (RICS, Cardpoint, etc.) to identify and solve fit-specialist issues in real time.
  • Keep the sales floor, stock room, cash wrap, break room, bathrooms, and all other staff areas clean and organized.
  • In accordance with maintaining store appearance, ensure the store is well stocked with cleaning supplies, office supplies, and any items that are integral to daily operations.


Marketing and Outreach Expectations:

  • The Center City store manager will communicate with the CMO and marketing team to stay current on marketing and outreach goals and events.
  • Share knowledge and potential opportunities for marketing, outreach, and community events with the CMO and Marketing team. 


Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
