What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpentry Instructor position at Philadelphia Technician Training Institute?
The Philadelphia Technician Training Institute is currently looking for an experienced carpenter to be an instructor for our Drywall, Framing, and Finishing program. As an instructor, you will demonstrate through hands-on training and classroom instruction proper technique, safety, and detail which are essential skills of polished trades professionals.
Perspective candidates must be experienced in residential, commercial, and industrial carpentry and construction applications, specifically working with commercial and residential construction drawings, proper handling of materials, using hand and power tools, steel framing, exterior finishing, thermal and moisture protection, and drywall installation and finishing. Experience and knowledge in construction math and other finishing techniques are preferred for our current instructor opening.
In addition to instruction, successful candidates will develop course materials and hands-on training exercises. The instructor will also evaluate, specify, install, and maintain training equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches the depth and scope of class materials as outlined in the syllabus and catalog and relates the instruction to careers and employer expectations.
- Develop hands-on projects related to course material.
- Attends faculty meetings.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs.

- Ability to teach and control the behavior of students.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques.
