Organizational Overview
Philadelphia Youth Basketball, Inc. (PYB) was officially launched in June, 2015, with a mission to create transformative opportunities for thousands of young people, especially those from under-resourced families and communities, to reach their full potential as students, athletes, and positive leaders. A diverse and impassioned group of individuals, including leaders from the grass-roots to the tree-tops, have been working diligently to execute upon this mission by building an impactful program, a robust and sustainable organization, and ultimately a state-of-the-art youth basketball and education center to enable us to provide empowering experiences to many more children, youth, and families.

Summary
Through the utilization of the game of basketball as context, as well as the benefits of positive coaching and mentoring, our participants will learn in an interactive environment. We are looking for highly-motivated individuals to serve as a PYB Coach-Mentor and Workshop Facilitator. The ideal person for this role must have experience delivering academic curriculum and capable of leading basketball skills training/coaching. We are seeking smart, caring, and engaged adults with a growth mindset, an aptitude for our on- and off-court work, and deep passion for helping young people become their best selves.
This position will primarily focus on our off-court workshop facilitation which includes the following pillars and components:

Core Work Scope & Responsibilities
Coach-mentors serving in this role will be responsible for:
- Creating a safe, inclusive environment for youth & families;
- Delivering off-court curriculum provided by PYB, ensuring the off-court daily activities run intentionally and smoothly;
- Facilitating on-court basketball youth development plan and coaching; teaching basketball fundamentals, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics;
- Embedding the PYB Way Culture into every aspect of the programmatic experience
- Serving as a positive role model to the participants, caregivers, and the PYB community
- Troubleshooting with other staff members (any PYB staff member), including Community site partner liaisons;
- Arriving at the site on program days approximately 15 minutes prior to the start time to set-up for programming and leaving after clean-up;
- Collaborating with our facility teams to ensure a positive culture and climate in our Center and at Program Community Sites;
- Community engagement
- Ability to commit to the full programmatic season.

- Site placement is specific to the program. Coach-mentors can be placed at community sites or Sixth Man Center

Winter 2 – Jan 27 - March 22
Spring – April 7 - May 31
Summer – June 23 - Aug 15
**Coach-Mentors must be available for professional development in between 2 week program breaks. Total available hours during the 2 week break is at the discretion of the hiring manager.
PYB Academy:
- Early Years: Monday/Wednesday/Saturday &/or Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday (4:30 PM - 6:00 PM)
- Middle: Tuesday/Thursday/Friday (5:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
- Location: Sixth Man Center
Middle School Partnership Program:
- Saturday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- Location: Sixth Man Center
Daytime and After School Partnerships:
- Early Years Middle School
- Friday:1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
- Location: Sixth Man Center
Clearances
All staff members must possess or obtain the following state and federal clearances before engaging in any hands-on activities with young people participating in Philadelphia Youth Basketball programs.
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check (SP4 164)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form (CYâ113)
- Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Background Check (Criminal History Report), if applicable.
- Mandated Reporters - Certificate
- National Sex Offender Verification
Compensation
This position will include wages of $19-25/hour commensurate with experience for up to 20/week.
