What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Admissions and Recruitment position at Philander Smith University?
The Assistant Director of Admissions and Recruitment’s primary responsibility is to manage an assigned recruitment territory and engage in activities to attract, recruit, and enroll students, including first-time freshman, transfer, and non-traditional student populations. Additionally, the Assistant Director is the liaison to assigned special admissions programs (e.g., Second Chance Pell, Philander Smith Management Institute (PSMI), health sciences programs, online criminal justice program).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILfflES:
Territory Management:
- Manage an assigned recruitment territory by developing and maintaining relationships with key constituents (e.g., high school personnel, community organizations, community colleges) to generate leads and applications.
- Develop and execute, in collaboration with the Admissions and Recruitment team, a data-driven recruitment plan aimed at increasing brand awareness and visibility and driving qualified inquiries, applicants, and enrollments
- Oversee the application process from submission to decision and confirmation. This includes the international market as well.
Special Admissions Program Liaison:
- Work directly with personnel in the assigned special admissions program(s) to recruit students for the program(s).
- Develop and implement programs/activities, in partnership with the program staff, to facilitate recruitment of students into the program.
- Manage the admissions process for assigned program(s), including application processing, admissions decisions, file creation/completion, and transfer of completed files to the Registrar’s Office.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, update, and present data and statistics related to territory enrollments and recruitment events.
- Use data insights to refine recruitment strategies and report on the effectiveness of activities.
Professional Development:
- Attend and participate in professional development activities to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- Implement new strategies and tools acquired through professional development to enhance recruitment efforts.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Assist the director with training new Admissions and Recruitment team members, as needed.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other departments to support institutional enrollment goals.
- Provide exemplary customer service and effectively engage with prospective students, their families, and other stakeholders.
- Deliver dynamic presentations and effectively communicate Philander Smith University's values, programs, and opportunities to various audiences.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree
Requirements and Organizational Skills:
- Handle highly confidential information with discretion and sound judgment and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of data.
- Possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills, fostering effective working relationships in a collaborative environment.
- Deliver compelling presentations to both small and large groups.
- Compose and edit correspondence, proposals, and reports with professionalism.
- Develop and recommend procedures to ensure smooth admissions operations.
- Advanced knowledge of Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Use technology to enhance recruitment strategies.
- Balance multiple priorities and shift between tasks seamlessly.
- Extensive Travel for recruitment purposes and possess a valid driver’s license.
