About the Position:
We are looking for a Machinist (full-time, first shift) to join our team. This individual works independently and runs a variety of equipment, tools, and machinery to cut, turn, bore, and shape parts. Examples of equipment used include automatic and manual saws, a manual mill, radial arm drills, a variety of manual lathes, overhead cranes, and line boring machines. This position requires blueprint reading.Opportunities for cross-training into other departments exist and include welding, press, torch, paint, and field installation.
Requirements of the Role:
- Print reading experience
- Experience running a variety of manual machinery
- Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment accurately, e.g. micrometer, tape measurer
Responsibilities:
- Adhering to all safety policies
- Operates manual saws, mills, radial arm drills, lathes, and line boring machines
- Measuring parts and pieces
- Visually inspecting quality of work
- Reading and interpreting prints, assembly drawings, and Bill of Materials
- Performing material handling operations as needed (training available)
- Cross-training to assist in other departments as needed
- Clocking to jobs using a barcode scanning system
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the department
Experience Required:
- Previous experience using manual drill presses, lathes and/or boring machines (not CNC) preferred
- Previous shop experience required
