Equipment Operator

Job Summary

Phillips Contracting is looking for skilled Equipment Operators to join our team. This position involves operating heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, rollers, and other equipment used in civil construction projects, including earthwork, site preparation, and concrete work. The ideal candidate will work efficiently and safely to meet project goals while maintaining equipment and following all company policies and safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, rollers, and other machinery for earthwork, road construction, and site preparation
• Work efficiently to meet production goals as outlined by the Foreman, Superintendent, or Production Manager
• Follow instructions regarding the daily production schedule and activities
• Maintain constant communication with crew members, truck drivers, and laborers to ensure smooth operation
• Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspections and report any issues to supervisors or shop personnel
• Transport equipment to and from job sites if required
• Assist with equipment maintenance, setup, and teardown as needed
• Keep the job site clean, organized, and safe for all crew members
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including attending job-site and safety meetings
• Ensure traffic control measures are in place before starting work
• Use hand tools such as rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows when necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Six months to one year of heavy equipment operation experience preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required; CDL preferred and may be required for some roles
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions for long hours
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices
• Willingness to travel to different job sites as needed, including overnight stays if required

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
