JOB SUMMARY:
A CNA/PCT providing direct and indirect patient care activities under direct supervision, assists patients with activities of daily living, and provides personal care, comfort, and assistance when necessary. This position is PRN for 12-hour shifts with a minimum of 1 shift a month. Shift differential pay applies for evening shifts and weeks.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Previous clinical experience preferred
Education: Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
Req. Cert. / Current CNA certificate in the state where employed, if certified.
Registration: CPR Certification
Essential Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
Functions: Daily lifts/positions/transfers patients, with assistance, weights up to and occasionally in excess of 200 lbs.
Lifts supplies/equipment
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
Eye-hand coordination
Ability to carry out procedures as outlined
Normal eye sight, with or without corrective lenses
Normal hearing, with or without hearing aid

- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Ability to function independently or as a member of a team.
- Performs basic nursing procedures, including collection of lab specimens, thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, application of simple dressing, and perineal care.
- Obtains and documents patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, respiration, pulse, intake, and output. 4. a -May obtain blood glucose, if trained
- Assists in admission, transfer, and dismissal procedures of the patient.
- Prioritizes assignments to complete tasks in a timely and professional manner
- Provides personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, eating, bed pans, transportation, and skin care and positioning.
- Keeps the patient's room straightened and clean.
- Maintains patient documentation as outlined by hospital policy.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient data.
- Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of medical treatment.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy.
- Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings as required.
