Position Summary:
The Outside Sales Representative position is responsible for promoting the company's products and services and for building relationships with new and existing accounts. The person will quote pricing for food service products and assist new prospective accounts in understanding the benefits of purchasing products from Phillips Food Service. The primary focus of this position is to acquire new accounts.
This position requires mostly local travel, but occasional overnight travel. Compensation will be a base annual salary plus commission. Salary will be based on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable of broad range of food and foodservice products.
- Seeks and qualifies prospective new accounts in accordance with company account guidelines.
- Analyzes and determines customer needs to present a mix of products to meet those needs.
- Understands market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales trends.
- Responsive to customers' questions about products, prices, availability, and product uses.
- Provides product information and practical training to customers.
- Collaborates with Purchasing Department to source needed products and vendors
- Participates in company functions, promotions, customer visits, and monthly sales meetings.
- Reviews and analyzes reports i.e. sales & profit, inventory, item movement, customer purchase history, deadstock, food sales, Etc.
- Performs administrative duties, such as preparing and submitting weekly calendar reports, maintaining sales records, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions.
- Capable in the following competencies: self-motivated, builds trust, creates customer loyalty, follow-through, sales ability / persuasiveness, adaptable, communicates effectively.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three years of foodservice experience in sales, food purchasing, and/or chef/restaurant management experience
- Basic PC skills and proficiency with MS Outlook/Excel/Word
- Must pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check)
- Must be willing and able to travel extensively
- Valid driver's license with a "clean" driving record (including: no single DUI in the last 3 years and no multiple DUIs within the last 10 years)
- Able to lift/carry laptop and product weighing 1-20 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. to and from vehicle, warehouse, customer location, Etc.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
Salary : $30,000 - $60,000
