What the Behavior Specialist does:
Responsible for supervision of specific group and individual behavior programs, supervision and provision of crisis intervention, assistance in staff training, and input into general program. Strives to be proactive to alleviate the need to have high levels of reactive programming.
Reports to: Behavior Supervisor
Supervises: Dedicated Aides
Coordinates with: Program Director Support Staff Behavior Staff Teaching Staff
1.1. Consults with teaching staff in the development of both individual and group behavior management programs on a regular and systematic basis to include classroom observations and behavior meetings.
1.2. Supervises the implementation of behavior programs by providing systematic follow-up consultation to include program modification, referral for specific skill training, and demonstration.
1.3. Consults with teaching staff in the identification, development and review of behavioral objectives for IEP's.
1.4. Assists Program Director and Program Supervisor in review of progress reports.
1.5. Participates in the case review process
2.1. Provides and/or supervises crisis intervention including direct intervention, assistance, communication and follow-up.
2.2. Provides direct services to classes/children in a systematic way as defined by specific behavior programs in the form of reinforcement, relaxation training, anger management and the like.
2.3. Provides direct services to children on as-needed basis to clarify guidelines, generate behavior objectives/expectations, and air consensus.
3.1. Serves as an administrator for yearly reviews and re-evaluation meetings.
3.2. Participates in the referral process of potential students: screening files, conducting intake meetings and coordinates with staff about potential classroom placement.
3.3. Participates in training development and yearly orientation process
Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in psychology, education or related field required.
- Experience in crisis prevention/intervention required; experience in applied behavior analysis, functional assessment, positive behavioral supports, behavior programming and behavioral counseling desired.
- BCBA certification a plus.
Salary : $71,000 - $90,000
