What the High School English Teacher does:
In consultation with Assistant Teacher, Behavior Staff, Career Staff, Related Service Staff, parents/guardians and other professionals as appropriate, the High School English Teacher develops and implements individualized education and behavioral programs for each assigned student. In addition, they
- Develop Individualized Education Plans for students
- Prepare quarterly report cards and mid-quarter reports, and IEP progress report narratives.
- Maintain good communication with students’ parents/guardians, relevant PHILLIPs staff, and appropriate professionals outside of PHILLIPs.
- Maintain classroom budget, and reports expenditures to supervisor.
- Evaluate students’ current levels of academic and behavioral functioning, and periodically re-evaluates to make program adjustment.
- Select appropriate instructional materials and strategies based on the curriculum to implement the goals and objectives on the IEP in all required subject areas.
- Organize classroom furniture and equipment to create a pleasant and effective learning environment.
- Actively supervise students throughout the day to ensure safety, including, but not limited to bus and playground duty.
- Implement individual and group behavior management programs.

- Bachelor’s Degree, required.
- Must meet the qualifications for a Maryland Educator License in special education at the appropriate level.
- Experience working in special education or a related field preferred.
Salary : $50,000 - $82,000
