What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Art Teacher position at Philly Art Center?
Overview:
We are seeking a visual arts creative with classroom experience to join our Summer Camp team as an Assistant Art Teacher. This position will work with our youngest artists, ages 4-6, in partnership with a lead art teacher.
Duties:
- Manage art supplies and maintain an organized art studio
- Engage a whole-child approach to support each child's day in both art making and outdoor play
- Support social/emotional learning, constructive relationship building with peers
- Navigate a wide variety of art materials in an organized classroom approach to support kids creative learning
- Collaborate with the rest of the art teaching team
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (major or minor) in visual art or art education
- Previous experience teaching young/elementary age children
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Requirements:
- Monday-Friday 7:30-3:30, June 24th-August 30th
- One predetermined week off, without pay, can be scheduled
- Six paid training hours the week of June 17th
- Clearances and CPR certification
-Interview process: virtual interview, then 3 hour in-person interview classroom observation
