Data Analysis, Reporting & KPI Development:
- Design, develop, and implement KPIs for the Material Control department to measure inventory accuracy, material availability, supplier performance, and warehouse efficiency
- Create automated reports and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into material control performance
- Work with IT to extract data from SAP (WM/PP/MM modules) and other systems, performing ETL processes to develop a centralized reporting structure
- Establish a single source of truth for material control data, ensuring alignment between SAP, warehouse records, and production needs
- Provide trend analysis, forecasting, and root cause analysis for material shortages, excess inventory, and supply chain disruptions
Inventory & Material Control Optimization:
- Monitor and analyze inventory levels, cycle counts, and stock discrepancies, implementing corrective actions as needed
- Work closely with warehouse and procurement teams to ensure material readiness for production while reducing excess stock
- Optimize storage and picking strategies based on data-driven insights to improve space utilization and reduce material handling time
- Identify inefficiencies in material flow and warehouse operations, recommending process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
Collaboration & Process Improvement:
- Partner with production, procurement, logistics, and IT to enhance material visibility and tracking
- Support the implementation of best practices in material management by leveraging data insights and industry standards
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for reporting, KPI tracking, and data management within the department
- Lead cross-functional discussions to align material control efforts with production schedules and corporate objectives
Self-Sufficiency & Initiative:
- Independently build reporting frameworks and KPIs without formal training or pre-existing templates
- Take ownership of data integrity and reporting accuracy, proactively addressing gaps in information
- Act as the go-to expert for material control reporting, continuously improving reporting capabilities based on business needs
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
COMPETENCIES
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Strong ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and create meaningful reports to support decision-making
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in SAP (WM/EWM/MM modules) for material tracking and reporting
- Experience with ETL processes, SQL queries, and data extraction from ERP systems
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, Power Query, VBA), Power BI, or other visualization tools
- Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Ability to identify inefficiencies, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement
- Self-Starter Mentality: Comfortable working with minimal supervision, capable of building processes from the ground up
- Process Optimization: Understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management principles, and supply chain best practices
- Communication & Collaboration: Ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels, translating technical data into actionable insights
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on data accuracy, process compliance, and reporting reliability
- Adaptability: Able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving work environment with changing priorities

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, Business, Information Systems, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered
- 2 years of material control, inventory management, or data analysis experience, preferably in a manufacturing or shipbuilding environment
- Prior experience developing KPIs and standard reports for material control or logistics
- Hands-on experience with SAP (WM/PP/MM) and data extraction techniques
- APICS certification (CPIM/CSCP) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, or similar data visualization tools preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role involves a combination of office-based work and fieldwork within the shipyard. The office environment includes standard computer-based tasks, data analysis, and meetings. The fieldwork component requires visits to warehouses, storage areas, and production sites to assess material flow, investigate inventory discrepancies, and collaborate with operations teams.
Environmental exposures may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes, and smoke, as well as outdoor weather conditions. The candidate must be comfortable navigating industrial settings and engaging with both technical data and hands-on material control processes.
