ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.
- Administer the team timekeeping process.
- Assign tasks to, monitor and coach the QC Coordinators and Inspectors.
- Quality Director as applicable when they are absent.
- Ensure that all QC Inspectors and Coordinators have the proper equipment required for the execution of their duties.
- Provide training and coaching to all subordinates in all QC procedures, methodology and processes. Record all training on a record of training.
- Resolve conflicts that may arise between QC and production personnel.
- Fully conversant with ISO 9001:2015 certification and internal quality system audits.
- Evaluate the performance of direct reports.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
- Review and feedback on quality requirements in contracts and specifications
- Inspections and coordination with owner/class and external inspection bodies
- Extraction of major quality control points per vessel and on-site feedback training
- Notification and management of quality issues [CRI, CCI, NCR, QCI, etc.]
- Preparation, review, and owner/class approval of inspection activities (I&TP) per vessel
- Key-Event required control item inspection per vessel
- Priority control items for risk prevention inspection and feedback on results
- Management of quality procedures/inspection standards creation/revision
- Review and feedback on the On-Board Test Plan
- Execution of outfitting quality inspections for ship projects
- Execution of quality inspections for Block pre-outfitting in ship projects

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY
Supervision over the QC Inspectors/Coordinators and NDT Contractors, or QC Foremen as applicable.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates Degree in Applied Sciences preferred or 10 years in the QC field, shipbuilding or allied industry, particularly in Pipefitting, welding, and/or metal forming
- Current or prior ASQ certification, or AWS Certification as a CWS or CWI
- Fully conversant with:
- Classification rules for Shipbuilding and Repair Quality Standards for Hull Structures during construction
- AWS D1.1 latest revision
- Applicable Shipyard Vessel Construction Quality Standards
