What are the responsibilities and job description for the QC Inspector, Outfitting position at Philly Shipyard default?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Ensure that all PSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.
- Perform inspections (may include NDE) and witness tests as required by PSI procedures and specifications.
- Prepare reports and quality records in compliance with PSI procedures.
- Coordinate areas of QC work with other departments as required, i.e. start-up, engineering, outfitting, etc.
- Finalize with class on remedies to fix any issues.
- Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, and working functionality per PSI requirements
- Perform incoming inspections on material for work in conjunction with material control staff as required.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum Two years related experience in discipline or 5 years’ professional welding experience
- AWS CWI Certification or equivalent preferred
- Ability to obtain CWI certification within 2 years
- Knowledge of ship building a plus
- Knowledge of ABS and DNV rules a plus
- Knowledge of NDE Testing processes (ASNT Certification preferred)
- Knowledge of testing/inspection equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints a must
- Ability to communicate with Production team, Owner, & Class Society Representatives
- Basic computer skills required
- Knowledge of Microsoft a plus (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include confined spaces, working from heights, noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
