What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welding Coordinator position at Philly Shipyard default?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Ensure that all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met
- Support Welding Manager in Maintenance of Welding Procedures
- Audit/provide oversight for consumable selection and welding activities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to create and improve Intranet-based tracking systems
- Assist in the coordination of welder qualification and NDT activities
- Write/revise C-Levels pertaining to welding
- Assist in data gathering and preparation of detailed quality analysis; KPI’s
- Report to Production, Management, and Customers (Class/Owner) on welding quality and statistics
- Have knowledge of the welding codes and Class rules in order to act as an authority when required
- Possess ability to determine welding quality trends and gather pertinent data to support quality improvements
- Develop and implement action plans to correct those issues identified
- Ability to represent the Quality department in meetings with Classification Society and Owner’s representatives
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILTY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or other relevant technical area (systems engineering, manufacturing, etc.)
OR an Associate’s degree in relevant area with 2 years’ shipyard experience
OR 4 years’ experience in QA/QC role in Shipyards or other relevant Heavy Manufacturing
OR 10 Years’ experience Welding in Shipyard or other relevant Heavy Manufacturing
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Duties performed in an office area and manufacturing environment with exposure to dirt, dust, oil and extreme temperatures at times. Philly Shipyard is a Tobacco free facility.
