Position Summary:
The College & Career Retention Specialist will support alumni from Phipps’s Community School high school programs, focusing on those from Bridge2College program, Ronay Menschel Scholarship, and Youth Workforce Programs.
To ensure that they remain engaged with Phipps Neighborhoods. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of College Access, the Managing Director of Youth Workforce Programs, and the executive team to foster long-term engagement and support among alumni. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance alumni relationships, increase participation in programs, and facilitate meaningful connections within the alumni community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Salary Range: $45,000 to $50,000 - salary is commensurate with education, training, and experience.
• Stay connected with alumni, especially the Ronay Menschel Scholarship recipients, through quarterly check-ins and workshops.
• Plan and lead events such as reunions, networking sessions, and activities that foster a sense of community among alumni across multiple cohorts.
• Draft a monthly newsletter and keep Alumni informed about available resources and opportunities within Phipps’s network.
• Maintain accurate data and track alumni progress in college, career, or other post-high school endeavors in an alumni database in Salesforce.
• Collect feedback from alumni to assess the effectiveness of retention efforts and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with Phipps staff to support alumni & program needs.
• Support the planning and staffing of daytime and overnight college trips.
• Support the College Advisors with facilitation of workshops for parents with faculty and school leadership support, providing information about the college and financial process.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops and program events as requested.
• Encourage alumni to apply for Phipps Workforce programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of College Access.
Qualifications:
• Must have 60 college credits (currently enrolled in degree program; bachelor's degree preferred).
• Familiarity with the NYC public school system and the collegiate experience.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with student outreach and comfortable speaking to new people.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram /Facebook/ LinkedIn)
• Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred
• Enthusiastic, creative, and proactive approach.
Physical Demands:
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as outreach tables, chairs and boxes of outreach materials. Employee will occasionally be required to attend outdoor events.
