Position Overview
Phipps Neighborhoods seeks a strategic, values-based Senior Grant Writer to join its Development Team. Reporting to the Chief Strategy & Integration Officer, the Senior Grant Writer will work closely with the Manager of Development and Special Events to create, articulate, and implement grant and funding strategies that align with Phipps Neighborhoods' mission and growth priorities. This role will play a key part in securing essential funding for the organization’s programs by leading the full lifecycle of grant development—from prospect research to final submission and reporting. The Senior Grant Writer will collaborate extensively with program, finance, and data teams to develop compelling narratives, budgets, and measurable outcomes that reflect the organization’s mission and values.
Note : The Senior Grant Writer is expected to be in the office at least two days per week and is encouraged to visit Phipps Neighborhoods program sites in the Bronx at least once a week to gather information and stay connected to program impact on the community.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the full lifecycle of grant proposals, including prospect research, writing, editing, and submission.
Conduct prospect research to identify and pursue new funding opportunities aligned with Phipps Neighborhoods' strategic goals.
Partner closely with program teams to gather essential information that ensures proposals accurately reflect Phipps Neighborhoods' strategic goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in nonprofit management, communications, English, business administration, or a related field.
Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in grant writing, with a proven record of securing major grants from foundations, government agencies, and corporations.
Conducting in-depth prospect research and aligning grant opportunities with organizational objectives.
Proficiency in persuasive writing and storytelling to convey impactful narratives that align with organizational values.
